Q: Do I need to bring anything/what do I wear?

A: You don’t have to bring anything except an openness and willingness to learn! We provide mats, towels, and a place to change. We don’t have showers but do provide some helpful amenities to help get you ready for the rest of the day. You can bring your own water bottle, or purchase a bottle of Fiji for $2 at the front desk.

For clothing, wear whatever you feel most comfortable moving around in, with the understanding that you will be working out within close proximity to other people. Also, we encourage our clients to do the workout barefoot as there are many health benefits to doing so.

Q: How long are classes?

A: Classes last one hour. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to class to make sure you have time to get set up and secure your favorite spot at the barre!

Q: Where is parking?

A: There are three options for parking around Barre Belle:

  1. Street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods (generally free for 2-hours with the exception of street-cleaning and evenings after 6pm–please double check the signs!) Check out our Instagram @labarrebelle for more parking details.

  2. Meters on La Brea (watch for anti-gridlock time restrictions 7am-9am & 4pm-7pm). *Note the meters are free after 7 pm.

  3. Valet on the corner of 1st & La Brea (*Note we do not validate)

Q: I’m pregnant, can I try Barre Belle?

A: If you’ve never done a barre-style class before, it’s not encouraged for you to try Barre Belle for the very first time while pregnant. The reason being is that our technique is based on core stability, and, as pregnancy shifts your center of balance significantly,  it can create a challenge when learning the technique. We’ll definitely look forward to working out with you after baby arrives!

However, if you are pregnant, and have done barre classes before, we would love to have you! We will need you to send us a doctor’s note prior to your first class.

Q: How do I sign up for classes?

A: You can sign up online on our website, through the Mindbody App, email at hello@labarrebelle.com, or call us and we’ll help you take care of everything.

Q: What should I do if I am going to be late for class?

A: If it’s your first class, unfortunately you cannot be late. If you find that you’re not going to be able to make it on time, please call the front desk staff at (323) 591–0480 and they will help you reschedule. It’s imperative for you to be early to your first class. This will enable you to sign our release form, learn the proper setup, have time to get oriented with the props and communicate with your teacher. All of which is extremely important for your comfort and ultimate success! If you’ve been to class before, and there is an extenuating circumstance that will cause you to be late, please call the front desk at (323) 591-0480 and let us know –  you will be able to join only as much as 5 minutes after the start of class. If you’re going to be any later than that, you will have missed too much of the necessary warm up and may cause a distraction to other clients. Just give us a call and we’ll help you reschedule!

Please note: if you are signed up and arrive late without calling, your spot will be given to another waiting client at exactly the 5-minute mark.

Q: Can my daughter come with me to class? She’s 15.

A: The minimum age for someone to take the class is 16 years old. Any client under the age of 18 years will need to have a parent or guardian come in and sign a release prior to being permitted to attend. Please note, we do not allow unaccompanied children to wait in the lobby while a parent or guardian is taking a class.

Q: How many students are allowed in class?

A: There is a maximum number of 25 students per class.

Q: I want to try a class but don’t want to pay. Is the first class free?

A: We’re excited that you’d like to try Barre Belle! We don’t offer free classes, however, we do provide a ‘first time’ offer on our website for either a single class or an unlimited month of fun!

Q: I didn’t sign up, is class sold out?

A: We all love Barre Belle and classes can sell out quickly, so we always recommend reserving online to secure your spot. If you show up and class is sold out, feel free to wait! You will be added to the waitlist. If there is a ‘no show’, and you’re next on the waitlist, we ’ll get you into class exactly 5 mins after the start.

Q: I have an injury that still bothers me, but I want to work out – what do you recommend?

A: Our priority is always to make sure you’re safe and healthy enough to participate. If there is something minor, please take the time before class to talk with your teacher about it. That way, modifications can be provided for you and your teacher will have a heightened awareness of your situation during class. If your injury is much more serious we will require a doctor's note to clear you to exercise. Our number one focus is always your overall wellness.

Q: How many calories does a workout burn?

A: At Barre Belle, we do not focus on caloric output instead we believe in wellness that is much more powerful than numbers. In every call, you will experience intense cardiovascular intervals (which evoke fat burning), full body muscular conditioning (that will provide and a metabolic lift hours after you complete our workout), and deep purposeful stretches that will help you repair, mobilize and elongate.

Q: Will this workout make my thighs bigger?

A: No! Our unique technique is designed to create a balanced musculature throughout your entire body. When practiced regularly you will lean out all over. That being said, if this is a new experience for you and you tend to build tissue quickly, within the first month your muscle development may outpace your fat loss. If this occurs, don’t get discouraged! You are on the right path. We encourage you to stay committed. Within three months, your body will recalibrate into a healthier, more equalized system.

Q: Can I freeze my account?

A: Auto-pay members can freeze their account in a single month block, one time per calendar year. Any additional holds will result in a $50 fee per 30 day period the account is on hold. Clients on class packages or Exclusive Memberships can not place their account on hold.

Q: I’m not 25 anymore – will I still be able to participate in class even though I’m older?

A: Absolutely! Our youngest clients are 16 years old and we have clients who come to class five times a week who are in their 70’s. It’s designed to be an individualized experience and we created these classes to support all of our clients equally. There is no such thing as “beginner” or “advanced” in our technique. Our instructors are extensively trained to support you wherever you are in your workout growth. With that in mind, if you have concerns about anything, please come a few minutes early to class and make sure to have a conversation with your teacher about your needs. We’re always excited to help!

Q: How many classes do you offer per week?

A: The weekly schedule is up-to-date on our website and on the Mindbody App. We offer a variety of classes 7 days a week that can fit in with your routine smoothly and easily.

Q: I don’t know if I’m in shape enough to take your class – how hard is your class?

A:  The Barre Belle experience is designed to be energetic and invigorating so be prepared to get connected! Every class is set up to be accessible and self-driven, we support and encourage all ability levels to take class. The experience is designed to cater to your individual needs. No matter what level you’re at in your workout regimen, we’ll be able to help get you to the next one.

Q: So what is this? Yoga? Dance? Pilates? Barre?

A: All of the above! Our method is a full body workout that strategically infuses all of those disciplines into one. Our class is designed to be a 60 minute holistic approach to wellness giving you a mind/body/soul experience. The first 20 minutes of the class you will work up a sweat (like you would in a high intensity spin or dance cardio class). Next you’ll move to the barre where you will work on sculpting the smaller muscles in your low body starting with the red light series. Then moving into our violet light series, then our orange/yellow light series and finally we will end on our backs in the blue light!

Q: Can I try the class then pay after?

A: In order to reserve your spot in class, payment is necessary beforehand. If it’s your first time and you’re still debating about taking advantage of the ‘New Client Special’, we recommend purchasing the ‘First Time’ and coming to explore. If after class you want to upgrade to the whole month, we will subtract your previous payment and get you set up.

Q: I didn’t bring cash or water. Can you charge my card?

A: Sure! No problem. We have a $10 credit card minimum so we will add $10 to your account and next time you come, you’ll have credit to pull from for when you need water.

Q: Can I extend my class package?

A: Typically no, however we understand that sh%* happens! If something unexpected comes up email hello@labarrebelle.com and we’ll see if we can help!

Q: If I want to cancel my membership what do I do?

A: If you’d like to cancel your membership just email hello@labarrebelle.com with no less than 30 days written notice. Unfortunately, without this the cancellation cannot be honored.

Q: I love that spray you use at the end of class. What is it?

A: Yay! We’re so happy you like them because they were created just for you! We have two sprays:

  1. Énergie for our daytime classes. This signature organic blend is designed to energize and detoxify. Fun fact: it’s also being diffused throughout the studio day and night.

  2. Calme for our evening classes. This blend has also been designed by Marnie, this time to promote relaxation and healing. It’s perfect way to end your day.

Both organic sprays are made from 100% food-grade essential oils, hand blended and available for purchase in studio.
